PART 1: IN THE BEGINNING. The Amazing Story of "The Gallery Corridor”

February 02, 2018

Calvert Trust Kielder and Calvert Kielder go together like tea and toast.

Calvert Trust Kielder is respected globally as a leading provider of residential and non-residential outdoor experiences for disabled people.

And our Calvert Kielder brand is a clear statement that our business is open to all - friends, families, businesses and education.

If you’ve been to Kielder you will already know that we are situated in one of the UK’s most uniquely beautiful and uplifting natural landscapes. You may also know about our unique and recently refurbished George Clarke collaboration ‘SkyDen’, our 3 Executive Chalets and our 10 Calvert Chalets, all situated deep within Europe's largest working forest.

But what you may not know is that we have five, cosy little rooms tucked away at the back of our main building, available to visitors from just a one night stay. To raise awareness and to upgrade the visitor experience, in mid-2017 we decided to invest in these rooms.

Setting the Vision

These images show what the rooms looked like before we set to work. A good size, within seconds of a full and freshly cooked English breakfast, beautifully calm and quiet and slap bang in the middle of the Kielder forest.

In need of some care and attention, Operations Director Kevin ‘OK’d’ investment and the project began in mid-2017. But not before we’d attracted the attention of another TV Designer to add to our existing relationship with architect George Clarke.

And that’s when the magic started to happen. We will tell you more in PART 2 of the story; coming soon.
