Newcastle University School of Architect, Planning and Landscape create new project at Calvert Kielder

October 27, 2017

The School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape at Newcastle University is designing and creating an innovative and contemporary shelter for visitors at Calvert Kielder. The school is one of the few in the UK focusing exclusively on the built environment.

Students from the university have already been hard at work on Phase 1 - levelling the base and preparing groundworks for foundations and pathway, all made more challenging by the arrival of Storms Ophelia and Brian.

Phase 2 involves the students working on the shelter at the university and is largely focused on the design and construction of the roof and supports.  The completed sections will be delivered to the site in early December.

We are very excited to see the finished shelter and we will continue to update and share this story with you as the project develops.
