Support Calvert Trust Kielder

April 28, 2018

It's what you CAN do that counts

Imagine having a disability and living every day of your life being told “you can’t do this” or “you’re not able to do that”. Then one day you discover a place where everyone says “it’s what you CAN do that counts” and “I’ll help you to do that” …you’ve just arrived at Calvert Trust Kielder.

Making a difference

We believe that disabled children and adults ought to have the opportunity to take part in adventure activity just like everyone else.  Each year we help to transform the lives of over 6,000 people with physical, sensory and learning disabilities together with their families, friends and carers.

Why we need your support

It costs £1.7million annually to run our centre.
We want our service to be available and affordable for all our visitors and with your help, we can ensure the most financially vulnerable and disadvantaged people will receive extra support to meet the cost of a life-changing visit to our centre on the shores of Kielder Water.

What your money can buy

£50 buys two climbing harnesses for use on our climbing wall and high ropes course
£100 buys three life jackets to keep our guests safe on the water
£250 buys four sets of waterproofs for guests to use during their stay
£500 buys a short break for three disabled children
£750 buys a new canoe so guests can explore Kielder Water
£1,000 buys a mobile hoist so guests can transfer from their wheelchair to the activities

Calvert Trust Kielder has made a tremendous difference to me and my family, both emotionally and physically.  I can go on holiday and try new things with people who are a similar age to me.  My favourite activities are water sports because I can lose the chair and sail across Kielder Water with my friends and fellow guests, which gives me a real sense of achievement.”
